We will be there for like 2 1/2 weeks
El Paso to San Antonio for 1 night with more family
San Antonio to Houston for a week with my mom and brother
Houston to Dallas to see yet another aunt of mine for 1 night
Dallas to Kansas city to see all of Evan's family for the longest leg of our trip (3 weeks)
Kansas to Colorado to see friends and supporters
Colorado down to El Paso again (cuz it's a free p;ace to stay on the way home)
El Paso back to LA (maybe stopping again somewhere)

It's going to be psycho. Evan went online to calculate the miles of our journey. And JUST the drives to the city is 4,200 miles or something. That is not counting any driving we would do once we got to any of the cities.

My main worry is Aubrie. At the moment she loves her car seat and will sleep for 2 or 3 hours in it no problem but I am afraid she will grow to hate it by the end, and will not be easy to travel with. And I know that once we get to our destination she will be ALL thrown off and stay awake ALL night. We shall see. What are we thinking??!!

It will be so good to see everyone though. I am really excited for everyone to meet Aubrie and to have a change of pace.
We leave in like 5 weeks. Yikes!

ok I am sooo sorry that I haven't posted....

it's been kind of crazy here. 2 weeks ago my brother drove my car out here and was here for like 5 days... so we have a bigger car now! yipee! the day he left my cousin came in for 2 days and 3 days later my mom was here for a week while Evan went to a leaders conference. I pretty much stay home. Now I am trying to teach Aubrie to fall aleep on her own. Not an easy thing to do. We got in a couple of not-so-great habits that we have to break now. So I pretty much have to listen to her cry for an hour straight- which is SO hard. I go in and pat her to reassure her every 15 or so but it is still not fun. I broke down the other day. She was so tired and hadn't slept ALL day (like 6 hours) and I was so tired of just listening to her cry.
I'm ready for a breakthrough.
Please pray.  :)

Grandparents come to visit!
Evan's parents came to visit last weekend. Not much to say. Most everyone who reads this knows the latest on my life. I'm home bound for the next 2 weeks. I'm bored and I still have work to do. Luckily I have access to some work stuff at the house.
My life is pretty boring right now. Just waiting for the contractions to start for real, so I can meet my baby girl.
I think I'm at that point now. I told Evan last night. "I'm ready to meet her!!" I think especially since I'm kind of starting the process, I'm all anxious.

So - no profound thoughts today... wish I could clean and get ready for this arrival, but that's on hold too. ohh well God knows.

Hopefully I'll have more interesting stuff to post soon.

Well I'm 33 weeks.

I went to the doctor yesterday and everything looks fine. I went for an appointment this morning and my doctor decided to do another ultrasound because my belly was measuring small. I was barely 26 inches top to bottom instead of closer to 29. She wanted to make sure our baby was growing right. Well the ultrasound was FINE. She is doing great. She has a strong heartbeat and all the measurements were right on target. I am 29 weeks.
AND guess what. We could already tell that she has a FULL head of hair! You could see it all messy on her head flying and stuff. I was so surprised. I thought my family would appreciate that. I guess I'll need a baby brush after all. No taping bows to her head like they did for me. :)

The doctor said that it is probably because I am taller, and it is my first baby. She said don't worry about anything. I still can't see a clear picture of her face. She is already head down and she is belly down too - so her butt is up.

It was relieving first of all to know everything is fine, and it was so wonderful just to see pictures of her again. I go again in 4 weeks.

Black Friday

OK I'm psycho. I decided to wake up at 5am and do this crazy shopping thing today. HOLY COW. Maddness! I got to Target at 6:10 but it took me 15 min to find parking. I got inside and it was crazy. I got incredible deals for sure, but I ended up having to wait in the check out line for like 30 min. Seriously the line wrapped all the way around the store to the back corner where the holiday stuff is. Ohh and there were 2 lines. I was in the wrong one for like 10 min without realizing it. So crazy.
Then I decided to go to Kohl's. That place was worse. Well the shopping wasn't, but the lines. I was in line for at least 45 min.
I got great deals at both places, and I only have like 3 people to buy for now, but I am exhasted now. AND I wasn't fully organized. I needed to have the stores ads with me and have the entire morning planned out. I got a lot, but I was aimlessly wandering the store. There were women there with 3 shopping carts full of electrtonics and toys and appliances. I've never seen anything like it.
It is worth it- to me because of the deals. but psycho.

We think we have chosen a name. My life has been very busy, but pretty boring too. Not a whole lot has happened.
My trip to Houston was great. It was wonderful to see my mom and Austin, and all my family. The shower my mom threw me was fun. I got all kinds of stuff. A lot more than I thought I was going to get.

The week after my trip, my friend had her baby. Elisabeth Marie. So beautiful. Then we left for Ensanada Mexico for a week long conference. It was really good, but a lot of information. 40+ hours of teaching in 6 days. 4 sessions a day. I was exhasted. We all were. But I am sooo glad we went. It gave me a new understanding, a fresh revelation and fire for what YWAM is and why we do what we do. Hearing stories from the founders was so amazing.

NOW I am crazy getting ready for an open house we are having next week. I keep thinking I have everything under control, and that it is all ok, but I have this sneaky feeling that Wednesday I am going to have a mini-meltdown. Let's pray that doesn't happen. I will be able to breathe after Nov 11.
THEN we (SOMD) plan the Xmas party for the base. I can delegate most of that to my students though! Praise the Lord.

OK. back to work. :) joy!

I get to go see my mom today- and get pampered!! I'm so excited. She is going to make all the foods I want, and take me to get a pedicure... so fun. A ton of my family will be coming in too for the baby shower she is throwing. That will be fun. It will definatly make this whole having a baby thing a lot more real (it already is) but I haven't bought stuff for my baby girl yet, so the presents will really make it a reality. I think.

Anyway. It kept coming in, and coming out. I'd lay in bed trying to ignore it, because it was so faint, but then it wouldn't go away. At first I thought- racoon- with all the scratching. Then I thought bird with all the whimpering... so I woke Evan up, and he thought it was outside.
We finally turned the light on, and looked under our bed only to find a mouse caught in a trap. I guess Evan had put one of those sticky pads under our bed and lo and behold..!! It wasn't dead (obviously) so Evan had to get out of bed and take it outside. yuck!
I started thinking where has that thing been? It was in our bedroom-
Needless to say, it took me a good hour to fall back asleep. ohh the joys of Trailers!

It's ABOUT TIME

Well, I know, I know. What the heck has taken me so long. Actually my life has been kind of boring until this week, and now I'm crazy busy.

But first things first. We are having a little GIRL!! For those of you who don't know yet.

2nd. Our first Fall SOMD starts tomarrow, and with 3 staff, we are running around like chickens without heads. Please pray for this school. I think it will be great, but we are feeling a little frazzled. We still don't have a few speakers,and of course in true YWAM form, things on this base are falling apart! so please PRAY PRAY PRAY!

3rd. We got a dishwasher! Hoorah! Hopefully we will have it installed this week.

On a funny note, someone who recieves our newsletter took our "fake baby names" seriously. We put a little section in there with Fortunatas and Valentine... and someone got a little worried! ha!

Well off to go pick up a student, even though I would much rather be searching for cute girly things to buy for my daughter!

Emergency Landing!

So what was supposed to take three hours (in air) to get to Kansas to see my husbands familia- turned in to 7 hours! Not fun. We ended up having to make an Medical Emergency Landing for a gentleman on the plane. So we took a FAST landing in Grand Junction CO (didn't know they had an airport...) to get this guy some medical attention. THEN what the flight attendants thought would take 30-45 min to get in the air again ended up taking 3 hours! We were stuck IN the airplane ON the tarmack in Grand Junction for 3 hours!! They wouldn't let us off the plane because of all the new security stuff checking us out and back in again. So there we were getting only granola bars and water while we waited! Did I mention that we were in the very last row?? You know in the seat where you can't recline.- ya. So when the captain turned off the seatbelt sign, and we knew we were stuck for a while we had a never ending line for the bathroom- right next to us! -- Now I am writing all of this in a completely exhausted state so if it seems a little bitter, that is why. I'm fine. The first picture is just a crazy class picture from the base... I thought I'd throw that in too. We took the school to Bishop California, where we got to serve a fishing resort by painting, digging a trench sandbagging etc.. Everyone had a blast and it was really good to get away. Now we just have 1 week left before the school is finished. We graduate this Friday.

yeah, so it's been a while since I blogged last. I don't really have much to say. God's pulling me through the wringer right now. I'm trying my hardest to learn the 1st time so I'm not ever here again, but I feel like I'm out of practice. I don't spend much time with God. Not like I used to. I kind of have this mindset that I'm livin' aren't I... I'm a missionary. I have BASE MEETING- or worship with the School, but it is all still work to me. I'm punching in and punching out. I'm realizing more that I need a place away from YWAM- separate from YWAM for me to get spritually fed. I remember before my DTS I was involved in several different things that were separate from "work" and that is where I thrived. I learned so much and I grew. I PURSUED GOD. Which is something that I do-NOT do these days. I don't feel like I have truely heard God's voice in my life since my DTS. or maybe when I was praying about dating Evan. This is a really hard place to be. I get on automatic mode, and rely on myself or friends or my husband to hear for me.
but I don't know how to change. It needs to be about me wanting it and pursueing it. Others can't really spur me to do it.
so needless to say- could use a shout out to God... I'm really fine. but could be a whole lot better.
thanks

there is not much news to report... right now, I am tired, and have all kinds of foul things I want to say about all sorts of things! life-work-people and on and on! but I will keep it to myself.
I will however update for those who are interested... a website has been started for the twins who were born premature. I hate this because it makes me question God's Soveignty I start thinking in my own mind what I think is fair and right, and I take away from who God is. Our Missions pastor in Kansas and his wife were finally pregnant with twins after 10 years of trying, and doctors... the babies were due mid-July and they born premature today. One is 1.14lbs and the other is 2.21lbs. I just broke down tonight. I mean I can not imagine a 1 pound baby. It just tears me up. And our friends... I just don't even know what to think or say. I want to do something, but I can't. All I can do is give Jack and Ethan to God. (thier names) So if you got a sec- please send up a prayer for David, Heather, Jack and Ethan. Thanks. I know God is still God, but I wish I could understand.

What a unique place we live in. Where EVERYONE knows your name and your business,where there is always a door to knock on if you need someone to talk to, where you may rarely find a moments peace. Where sometimes you can be in the midst of friends but feel as if you are amoung strangers. Why is that?
I'm not sure what I really want to say here. My brain is turning. I've typed out four different things and erased all of them, because they don't make sense when I actually write them out. There is this feeling of "uncomfortable" sometimes for me here. Here meaning YWAM. Like I don't belong, or why am I here. Sometimes it's even (in my twisted mind) why is SHE here, from others. I know it's rediculous- but them I keep saying to myself. Is it really rediculous? I still find myself being swayed and wanting to impress others. Like I don't know who I am. But- sometimes I feel more sure of myself now then I ever have. I'm not making sense. I think I am still acting out what Phil 2 says...working out your salvation with fear and trembling. It may not be my "salvation" but my character and my beliefs. I feel like I have learned SOO much about who God is and who I am in Christ since I have been in YWAM, and I'm not sure if I ever REALLY processed it all. I went from one thing to the next since coming here. I've never left. So sometimes I feel a bit confused when it comes to some things. (now I feel like I've gone off on a tangent) so ANYWAY- welcome to my brain. It's confusing, but then again- that's pretty much right on.

I can't believe it is only Thursday evening! What a week. I feel like I was in "crisis mode" all week. Taking care of whatever wasn't done or whatever I FORGOT. Yesterday I go to get my mail and there is this hand made card in the shape of a cross with one of those little cards with a scripture on it (like a daily verse). It read..."My help cometh from the Lord" Psalm 121:2 SO someone else thinks I'm stressed out too! And then today, I took my friend Andrea to get her driving portion done for drivers licence, and that was drama too. We used my car, but one of the bulbs for my back brakes was out. So she couldn't take it until I fixed it, which we did and then went back at noon, but the line was too long, so we came back at 3. SHE PASSED and is now I licenced California driver so that is great, but in the mean time I was missing appointments I had... ugh. I am so glad tomarrow is friday! I'm not sure why I am blogging it, but I guess it has just made me think. Looking back on that day and the whole 3 months of prep and recovery is really strange. It seems like a life time ago.
But at the same time it doesn't. I learned a lot during that time. Not only about what I am capable of, but also how much God really can work through you and FOR you. I could not have done it without Him. The whole experience gave me such a new perspective on life and how temporary it is. It also made God sooo real to me, I can't even tell you. It was a time where I really had noone else to lean on but God. BUT, I would not trade the things that I learned in those months for anything in the entire world. It's like that Ginny Owens song "If you want me to". I listened to this song soo much 5 years ago. Here are the lyrics if you don't know them. AMAZING!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~~~~**
The pathway is broken
And The signs are unclear
And I don't know the reason why You brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I'm gonna walk through the valley
If You want me to
Chorus:
Cause I'm not who I was
When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise You're not through with me yet
so if all of these trials bring me closer to you
Then I will go through the fire
If You want me to
It may not be the way I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I'd never go alone
So When the whole world turns against me
And I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the valley
If You want me to
When I cross over Jordon,
I'm gonna sing, gonna shout
I'm gonna look into Your eyes and see
You never let me down
So take me on the pathway that will lead me home to You
And I will walk through the valley
If You want me to
Yes, I will walk through the valley
If You want me to
Thanks for reading
So here you go... just as i promised- the picture of Evan in the midst of his misery. The picture is a little washed out, his face was really red too.  It looked like he had a sunburn. I feel somewhat bad for taking this picture (not really) but maybe a little for blogging it.  I know I'll get mine if this should ever happen to me.  I'm sure Evan will be SO kind and remind me of this very day, when I blogged his pain.  Yeah, I'll have to bite my tongue. I feel like I have always been somewhat aware of money and the stress and frustration it can bring, but not as much as I am now.  I now totally see how it can be an instrument in relationship failure.  Not that Evan and I are at that point at all- we aren't, but man what a depressing topic.  We thought we were kind of in the clear right now for a couple of things... think again.  I know God uses all things for His Glory, but I'd sure like to know a little more detail or be at least a little bit more confidant in this area.  But I guess that is the way He likes it.  We need to be fully dependant on Him and be joyful in it.  yeah-  I'm smilin' and full of joy over here in Trailer #13!! If Evan and I really want to be in YWAM for a long time we have to care about and respect our supporters.  I just don't want it to become useless information that will bore all who read it. I know you guys who read this are wondering, what I'm talking about... the question that everyone asks me- Are you or aren't you??  Well, I'm not- (not this month anyway) and I think for my own sanity, I have to stop focusing on it. - Easier said than done. I know it's my own fault.  I am usually the one who brings it up, or shares what I'm thinking, but I have realized I just can't do that anymore. I guess I need this to be a private thing, especially because it's not coming easy. As far as talking about pregnancies in general... I'm not necessarily going to stop talking about other peoples pregnancies- if I did that I'd lose most of my friends. Pretty good eh Karisse?  Well, I just wanted to report the devestating news that Karisse, Krystal and I have finished watching all three seasons of Roswell.  *sniff *sniff    Maybe I should mention the fact that Karisse and I watch almost 2 full seasons in 4 days. (I know psycho)  I can't believe it is over.  I don't really know what I am going to do with my time.  I probably should devote some time to newsletters and thank you cards, but finishing out Alias sounds like so much more fun.  :)  NOO!!  I will take a break from DVD shows, and TV! It's been going really good.  I must say, just staffing the school is SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than being a student/staff.  :)  I know... I bring that up a lot.  I'm over it now.  The students this year are really great. I'm excited to see where all of them end up.
Yesterday, I had a few things to do in the afternoon.  One student had a friend comming in to town that needed to be picked up, another student had an appointment at a college that she needed to get to, and we needed to go shopping for a family time.  Luckily everything got taken care of, but not before I took the longest way possible back from the college with Becca.  We were over in Woodland Hills, and we got there by taking the 405 to the 101.  So all I had to do was back track right.  Well-  I totally missed the 405 (becca and i were talking) and then I realized and figured I could take the 134 tothe 5.  totally missed the 5.  It was crazy. I got on the 134, but went all the way to pasadena. I have no idea what I did, or how I did it.  I kind of want to pull out a map to see just how far out of the way I went.  So we were late to "family time" with Dave G.  woohoo.
So there is this amazing thing online if you use firefox as your browser.  It's called stumble.  It's a way to find random website that you would like.  You check boxes of things you are interested in.  Like, music, art, photography etc.  and then when you hit "stumble" it takes you to these great random pages.
anyway, I stumbles onto this page that had actual conversations with people that were wanting to travel... there are some stupid people out there...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I had someone ask for an aisle seats so that his or her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window.

A client called in inquiring about a package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, "Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii?"

I got a call from a woman who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information when she interrupted me with "I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts. "Without trying to make her look like the stupid one, I calmly explained, "Capecod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa." Her response ... click.

A woman called and asked, "Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know who's luggage belongs to who?" I said, "No, why do you ask?" She replied, "Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said FAT, and I'm overweight, is there any connection?" After putting her on hold for a minute while I "looked into it" (I was actually laughing) I came back and explained the city code for Fresno is FAT, and that the airline was just putting a destination tag on her luggage.

Man I suck at blogging. I just completly forget about it. I need to make it a weekly/daily routine to stop in and let you all in on our day. Today is Monday January 30th. It definatly feels like a Monday with al the perks (or NOT) I am tired and have no desire to get done what I desparatly need to get done. I am very happy that all my friends that have been gone on outreach have returned. It is so great to see thier beautiful faces again. I know they are all really tired and ready to retreat from constant communication and being around people 24/7 but none the less I am happy they are home.

Hooray it's Friday. Not that we have this big weekend planned. But Friday's are always just great. Things here at YWAM-LA have been pretty quiet. The DTS students and staff have been in Estes Park Colorado for the GO! Conference. It is a great time of getting God's heart for the Nations, hearing great worship, meeting other students and staff and of course being surrounded by God's creation. They will return on Sunday after a week of being gone.
Next Saturday Evan and I go to Kansas City for his church Missions Conference. It goes from Sunday the 13th - Sunday the 20th. We will be there the entire time, plus through to Thanksgiving. The conference is pretty spectacular. They invite all of te missionaries they support to come and get loved on. With Men's breakfasts and golf, and women's breakfast and pampering! Plus great speakers and fellowship. Also this will be my first Thanksgiving with the Smith family. fun fun!

Hello Everyone.
